Happy Birthday Shah Rukh Khan: Five Things You May Not Know About Him

Shah Rukh Khan’s early life

Shah Rukh Khan was born as Shah Rukh Sharmila Banu Khan into a Punjabi Muslim family and made his Bollywood debut with Rajiv Rai’s Karan Arjun. His wife, and his first wife, is the actress Gauri Khan.

Gauri played the role of a girl named Rani in the film, but was then married to the superstar.

In an interview to Manorama Times in 2012, the Badshah of Bollywood was quoted as saying, “To be honest, it is my son who made my husband as a superstar. What was it that brought the entire film industry, my husband and me together? It was my son.”

Gauri, who got married to Shah Rukh in 1992, now runs her own interior designing company. She also has her own jewellery line and a hair care product range.

SRK’s parents separated in 1994 and Gauri filed for divorce in 1997.

His film career

Shah Rukh Khan began his acting career with the film Pardes in which he played a small role but he soon graduated into the full-fledged roles with Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Laju-Sajda, Main Hoon Na, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Chak De! India, My Name Is Khan, Dilwale, Baadshaho and Raees.

While he did complete a handful of films during this time, his passion was clearly evident in the scripts he picked up in each of the films he did. Films like Deewana, Om Shanti Om, Darr, Pardes, Veer-Zaara and Darr-E-Dil were all box office hits which served to prove that the King of Bollywood has not lost the charm.

His journey has been full of struggle and the time has been tough for him to earn a name for himself. But this actor of Indian cinema has always managed to stand up for himself and his dreams.

Awards and nominations

Shah Rukh Khan is one of the most respected actors in the Hindi film industry and has won the Filmfare award for Best Actor for his performances in Darr (1993), Deewana (1995), Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995) and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998).

The actor received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2002 for his contribution to Indian cinema.

Many recently released film roles have enhanced his stardom, including starring in his own production Dilwale and a cameo in Jab Harry Met Sejal (2017). He is also a part of the sequel to the 1994 Salman Khan starrer Tiger Zinda Hai.

We wish Shah Rukh Khan a very happy birthday.

Family life

Shah Rukh Khan’s marriage with Gauri Khan is the talk of the town. Even when it was a secret marriage, the two were extremely choosy about who they wanted to invite for their big day.

He’s an obsessive collector

He has a huge collection of all things Bollywood and loves everything related to it. His rooms in his house are a treasure trove of memorabilia, ranging from sets of scripts, posters to photographs of his idols.

His style sense is…

Most of his movies carry some kind of a quirky or geeky style. Shah Rukh Khan is a sucker for those kind of clothes and accessories that are usually reserved for geeks.

Events of this year

As the year has come to an end, let’s take a look back at all the highlights of Shah Rukh Khan’s year.

The year started with the historic box office clash between Shah Rukh Khan’s film Zero and Salman Khan’s Race 3. Salman’s film released on a rather delayed date and it was always going to be a tough battle at the box office.

Zero received mixed reviews and did not live up to the expectations of the audience. But the box office collection is not at all to be mocked. Shah Rukh’s film released on almost 300 screens and Race 3 was releasing in an almost empty cinema hall. The film had only approximately 200-300 screens as compared to the large number of screens for Zero.
