Lauren Jasmine’s life before music

Looking back at your previous albums, what was different this time around in terms of songwriting?
I think my process has changed a lot over the years; especially since I started working with producers like Scott Storch and Mike Dean. They bring a different sensibility to my songs and help me mold them into what I envisioned them to be from the start. The older I get, the more certain I am about what I want my music to sound like–which can sometimes make things difficult because I’m not always open to change or input from others who might have a different perspective. But in the end it’s all worth it when you hear an album that truly represents who you are as an artist.
Lauren Jasmine’s journey to stardom
Lauren Jasmine has always been a talented musician. After studying music at the University of North Texas, she landed a job as a session musician in Austin. She played along with some big names before landing a lead role in an independent film.
After the release of her first album, Lauren Jasmine continued to pursue her music career while also working on other projects. She released her second album in 2016 and it quickly rose to the top of the charts. In 2017, she starred in and co-wrote the movie “Illicit Affairs” which gave her even more exposure.

The songwriting process
There are very few people who know the songwriting process of Lauren Jasmine like I do. We’ve been friends for over 10 years, and during that time she’s become one of my favorite songwriters because her songs always have a story to them.
For her latest album, “Angels & Demons,” Lauren worked with some of Nashville’s top producers including Dave Cobb (Jason Aldean, Johnny Cash) and John Shanks (Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood). She also enlisted the help of some incredible guest stars including Vince Gill and Ashley Monroe.

1. Every song on “Angels & Demons” is autobiographical in some way.
2. It usually takes Lauren around three weeks to write a full-length song.

4. Once she has an idea or a melody down, she begins writing the lyrics to fit it. Sometimes she’ll work on the lyrics independently while other times she’ll work together with someone else on the songwriting process.
